Understanding how you walk to resolve foot, knee, hip and back pain
What is Biomechanics?
Biomechanics is the study of how a person walks and moves in order to assess whether the posture and function of their feet is correct.
Poor foot posture can lead to pain in the feet, heels, knees, hips and back. If you are experiencing pain in any of these areas, a biomechanical assessment can help identify whether the root cause is coming from your feet.
How We Assess Your Biomechanics
At Happy Feet NI we carry out a thorough biomechanical assessment that includes:
Joint Range of Motion
We carefully assess the range of movement in your feet and lower limbs to identify any restrictions.
Strength & Muscle Balance
We check for power or strength differences between your feet and legs that may be contributing to your symptoms.
Posture & Alignment
We look for posture issues such as leg length difference and overall alignment from the feet upwards.
Gait Analysis
We observe you walking barefoot and record the assessment so we can carry out a detailed analysis of your walking pattern.
What Happens After the Assessment?
Your assessment is recorded and analysed in detail. Our podiatrists then use this information to create a personalised rehabilitation plan designed to address the underlying issues and help get you back on your feet more comfortably.
This may include advice on footwear, strengthening exercises, stretching, or custom orthotics where appropriate.
