For patients with persistent Achilles tendinopathy that has failed to improve with rehabilitation alone, high-volume injection therapy may be an effective option.
Chronic Achilles tendon pain is often associated with the growth of abnormal blood vessels and nerve fibres around the tendon. A high-volume injection works by carefully injecting fluid around the tendon under ultrasound guidance. This separates (“strips”) these abnormal tissues from the tendon, helping to reduce pain while allowing rehabilitation to continue more effectively.
